Mental Health Intern
Direct Supervisor: Director of Placement Services
Positions Supervised: None
Interrelationships: The Mental Health Intern will provide individual counseling, crisis intervention, family counseling, and group counseling. The Mental Health Intern will carry out assigned duties as part of the clinical team and will be required to use independent judgment. Assistance and consultation at any time from other staff personnel is encouraged. There are bimonthly Interdisciplinary team meetings and supervision from the Director of Placement Services.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or other related field. Currently enrolled in an accredited program related to Community Mental Health Counseling or closely related field. Knowledge of counseling theories and techniques.
Duties, Responsibilities and Functions:
- Participate in weekly supervision meetings.
- Participate in bimonthly IDT meetings.
- Provide crisis intervention counseling for clients and families.
- Conduct individual, group, and family counseling with clients.
- Responsible for documenting individual, group, and family sessions to be turned in on a weekly basis.
- Attend and provide documentation for court dates with clients as needed.
- Attend training and/or in-services as provided by Childkind.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Placement Services.
