Disability Awareness 101 Workshop
The workshop is designed to provide Parents, Grandparents, Caregivers, Advocates and all Professionals who support children with special healthcare needs and/or developmental disabilities with information about services and community resources.
Participants will learn about:
- People First Language
- Medicaid (including EPSDT and waivers)
- School Topics
- Advocacy
- State and Federal Legislation including the Olmstead Decision, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Action (IDEA)

About Joe Sarra
Joe serves as Childkind’s Director of Home Based Services and oversees Childkind’s Transition Support, Family Support, and Training functions. An expert in Medicaid Waiver and community based services for children with significant health care needs and developmental disabilities; he has been with Childkind for 6 years.
In addition to presenting the Disability 101 Workshop to state social service agencies, metro-Atlanta hospitals and school systems, Joe has presented at several conferences including the Autism Society of America-Georgia Chapter, Promoting Safe and Stable Families Conference in Georgia and the National Association of Social Workers-Georgia Chapter.
